Maine Facility Rocks For Clinical Education
RehabCare has hosted students at many sites for their clinical affiliations, however, only until recently have we begun to follow-up with these student therapists to find out their opinions of their experience with us to see what we are doing right and what we could improve on. We recently received our first response back from an Occupational Therapy student attending the University of Southern Maine who used our site in Saco,ME called Seal Rock for her Level 2 affiliation.
When asked about the Clinical Site/Environment, the student wrote: "The building was beautiful, the gym was clean and organized. I was encouraged to provide input to improve the established student handbook PRN. As a student I was
really able to witness client centered care through the communications between staff members, sensitivity towards patients and sharing of pertinent helpful clinical information to improve quality care."
She then went on to comment on her Clinical Instructor:
"Rachel is a very patient and knowledgeable fieldwork supervisor. I liked how we met weekly to discuss strengths, weakness and formulated goals to increase my growth. Rachel has an infectious positive attitude. No matter how acute the client was she could discuss their progress with them to a point where they received strength from the input." Finally, we asked her if she would recommend this site to other therapy students to which she responded: "Yes. I feel the supervision and the rehabilitation team was supportive of my learning experience. The staff was 100% approachable and happy to answer my many questions." A big "congratulations" to the team at Seal Rock on such a fantastic job and an extra special thanks to Rachel for showing this student that RehabCare is committed to providing the best clinical education experience for students.
