APTA National Student Conclave Wrap Up
If you did not get a chance to attend this years National Student Conclave of the APTA, you missed out on quite an exciting weekend. Speakers, conferences, exhibitors and much more were all just a part of the Conclave. Despite the rain, Valley Forge, PA was a hotbed of student activity. We met over 300 students from all over the country from New York to Texas to Washington to Hawaii. Clinical sessions were held in various conference rooms and you could attend any of your choosing. You could attend sessions on Acute Care, Aquatics, Cardiovasucular & Pulmonary, Geriatrics, Neurology, Orthopedics, Pediatrics and Women’s Health just to name a few. Students also had the chance to
meet with current and past-members of the APTA, including former APTA President and "living legend", Charles Magistro. Mr. Magistro made himself available to students to share his most memorable moments from his time as a physical therapist.
Vendors, such as RehabCare, were on hand to share information on job opportunities and trends, and provide unlimited amounts of resources for students to help them in their searches for the perfect job out of school. There were also representatives showing off some of the latest therapy products and techniques. Our personalized keychains were a huge hit with everyone and many waited while they made their way to the front of the line.
It was a great experience to meet so many students that are excited about what they do and how they look forward to helping so many people in their years to come as therapists. If we met you at the conclave and you have further questions, please contact a Campus Relations Manager. Also, if you are an OT or OTA student and are wondering when your big event will be – fear no more! The AOTA/NBCOT Student Conclave will be held in Pittsburgh, PA on November 17-18.
