I thought I would take a moment to put the "spotlight" on one of our facilities located in Pine Bluff, Arkansas - Jefferson Regional Medical Center. The inpatient program director, Karthik Muthu, and outpatient director, Anthony Brown, have been instrumental in helping strengthen relations with therapy programs in Arkansas.
They recently hosted a luncheon presentation on RehabCare to students at South Arkansas Community College and are now hosting a couple of the students they met there for their upcoming fieldwork rotations. They are also taking students from other therapy programs throughout the state. Jefferson Regional is a great learning place for students and new graduates alike. Here's what they had to say about their building:
We treat neurological disorders, strokes, MS, amputations, hips and knees and some pediatrics. The length of stay with our patients is 13-14 days in the Inpatient unit. We have 3 large gyms with state of the art equipment. We have a tenured staff and have had no turn over in the past 5 years. (PT's will like to hear this...) We have 2 excellent PT's on staff with 35 years experience between them. They would welcome the ability to mentor a new graduate. Jefferson Regional will also be adding a brand new PT Outpatient clinic in early 2009.
For those of your not familiar with Arkansas, Pine Bluff is located south of Little Rock along I-530. Take a look below at some of the pictures that showcase one of their large rehab gyms. Jefferson Regional is a great clinical education facility that would allow a student or a new graduate exposure to many different patient diagnosis, the ability to work with a full interdisciplinary rehab team and the chance to absorb techniques from therapists that have many years of experience under their belts.
If you would like to take a tour of this facility or if you are interested in setting up a fieldwork rotation at Jefferson Regional - send me an email at jamcmikle@rehabcare.com. We would love to have you with us!
