  • A Day In The Life
  • No matter where you are– on the bus, riding the subway, walking to class, or working out at the gym you can’t help but be bombarded by twenty-somethings with those little white headphones blaring in their ears.

It’s the age of the ipod. You can’t deny it…you can’t ignore it…they’re everywhere.  Knowing that students are eternally mobile RehabCare has gotten on the technical bandwagon and published it’s first podcast!

Our first venture into the world of podcasting is somewhat entertaining.  Why?  Because not only does it deal with physical therapy, as one might expect, but it’s an outline of clinical practice guidelines for using the Nintendo Wii. Coupling the ipod and the Wii what more could any college student want? It’s every wired students dream!

Listen here, and stay tuned for more podcasting!

I’m clearly a big fan of blogs, but I’m also an expert in other social media tools, which is why I was just pleased as punch to see my client, Rehabcare, launching their first podcast? It’s good marketing, because it’s

Really glad to here someone trying to put in some guidelines. Here comes the criticism though. Where is the evidence for this?
What’s driving me mad about the Wii is that people are throwing it (excuse the pun) into practice without trying to properly audit or research its usefulness. Its all well and good providing guidelines (and I am agreeing with its production) but we don’t actually know if its any good. For example does it have any usefulness in improving balance in children with cerebral palsy for example? What are the visomotor demands on a person in various games and can they be improved? What I would love to see is a writeup of the functional outcome measures results and if there is any improvement before guidelines.
As a sidenote I would argue that this is more of a detailed activity analysis (and example of notes) rather than a set of guidelines.. (and a rather good one at that!)
Anyway rant over (and its not actually directed at yourselves – Its great to see something at least being done to formalise intervention) – good work on the podcast.. :)
PS: I would love to do the research – Nintendo – you have my number.. !
