Collegiate therapy programs in the U.S. are continually pushing students to not only excel in their studies, but to take their knowledge and service outside the classroom. Previously we have blogged on the student run healthcare clinics at the University of Florida and the University of Kansas, as well as, the volunteering done in Mexico by Ohio State University students. Today's spotlight shines on the University of Wisconsin-Madison where students and faculty have traveled to Punta Gorda, Belize as part of their semester break to offer physical therapy and education to the community.
This trip will not only benefit the community of Punta Gorda, but will also be of great benefit to the University of Wisconsin students and faculty. This is a great example of a school helping to bring what is learned in the classroom out into the real word in order to make a difference. Visit the school's website where daily entries are being posted on their experiences.
