  • Last night we hosted another "Chatapalooza" event.  We were privileged to speak with several students and recent graduates about RehabCare.  Below is the transcript of the chat.  We talked about tuition assistance, Professional Choice Accounts, Flexible Spending Accounts, and fielded questions on many other matters (including who got voted off of American Idol!).  If you have any additional questions please don't hesitate to contact a Campus Relations Manager.  Not sure who to contact?  Click on the map to the right to find out.  Thanks to all who logged on to chat with us last night.  We hope it was very beneficial!

Barb Welcome Guest! How can we help you?

guest834654 Just checking in…got an email with this link today

guest834654 graduating in several weeks; just accepted position in Dallas

Barb Cool. Where will you be working?

     guest834654 Brentwood Place

Barb Welcome to RehabCare! We're glad to have you. Where did you go to school?

    guest834654 Thanks! UTDallas

guest834654 I did an internship w/ Rehabcare last summer, so already know I'm with a good company :)

    Barb That's awesome! At Brentwood?

    guest834654 yep; pretty excited!

Barb What about your classmates? Did they all end up taking jobs where they affiliated?

LBrown Hi guest 82465. Can we help you with anything this evening?

guest834654 most have jobs; am looking for someone for another spot @ Brentwood…too many peds folks graduating with me:)

guest834654 oh, I was curious about one thing in the benefits package though…

    Barb Sure, what's your question?

guest834654 what exactly is the Health Risk Assessment and discount?

    Barb That's
new this year. You simply go through a questionaire through the
insurance co and they will give you a discount on your benefits. I
    believe it's $120. It's completely confidential.

Cllotz Hello guest82456, do you have any questions we can answer for you?

guest834654 Does it have anything to do with "pre-existing conditions"?

guest834654 woops, did I put that funny face up there?!

    Barb Yep….how
did you do that? I believe that it is more on your general health and
wellness. I'm trying to recall the questison. Lauren or Lianne do you
    remember the questions?

Cllotz Hello guest 66285, welcome to our Chat!

Cllotz Many related to if you smoked, what your family history is, etc…

    guest834654 so
if there's family history, or I quit smoking 10yrs ago, will that mean
I don't get the discount? (I used quotes on pre-existing)

    LBrown Guest834654,
I think this may help you out. The Health Risk Assessment has nothing
to do with pre-existing conditions. It doesn't affect your coverage or
premium in a negative way at all.

Barb You get the discount for just completing the assessment.

LBrown You wil continue to get the discount no matter how you answer.

guest834654 that's good; it looked like it made a big difference in copays, etc.; what a relief

Cllotz Welcome to our Chat Guest68143!

    Barb We
also have a Benefits Help Desk. The HR Benefits team mans the phone
lines to answer all benefits questions. So if you ever have a problem
there is someone that is available to help you.

guest834654 Thanks. I'm sure they'll go over all this in orientation.

Barb Oh, yes! Be sure to ask questions, too! What do you think of the PCA Benefit?

guest834654 I like that a lot, if I understand it right. I can put my premiums and other medical stuff in there before tax :)

    guest834654 Is that new?

    Barb Oh,
that's the Flexible Spending Account. I'm talking about the
Professional Choice Account which provides funds for you to use for
CEU's, license fees, professional memberships, etc. After 90 days
    you'll be eligible for $500.

guest834654 oh yeah, that'll come in handy too :)

guest834654 oh, there's dinner, better go…thanks for the info, and I'm really looking forward to joining the RehabCare team!

Barb oh, and if you are able to refer any of your classmates and they get hired, you will get a referral bonus for each one!

anapaca Hello, I just graduated and was wondering if I would be eligible for tuition forgiveness, how does that work?

Barb Hi Anapaca, where (location) are looking for employment?

anapaca I'd like to stay in the Chicago area. Based on your map you have a lot of opportunties there.

LBrown Anapaca, what discipline are you?

    Anapaca pt

    Barb Yes,
we do have a lot of really great opportunities in Chicago. You would
just need to click on the box to the right. Opportunity U and fill out
an application. We can contact you and walk you through the program.

Anapaca Oh, okay, Ill do that. One other question, about the mentorship program. How does that work?

Cllotz He Guest 48105, welcome to our chat! Do you have any questions I can help answer?

    guest481058 Hi, how are you?

    guest481058 I am graduating in 2 weeks.

Cllotz Congrats! Where are you graduating from?

    guest481058 thank you

    guest481058 nyc

Cllotz Wonderful, have you found a position yet?

guest481058 I got 3 job offers but I am not sure if its what i want

    guest481058 they're pediatric

guest481058 and im looking into more adult population

guest481058 can you tell me about the adult population?

    Cllotz WOW,
that ihs great! That is a great place to be. We don't have many setting
dealing in peds, the majority of ours are in Adult geriatric pop. Are
you looking to stay in NYC or relocate?

    guest481058 im flexible.

Barb I know that there are openings in Rochester and Utica. Others too….I'll check

guest481058 im interested in outpatient rehab

guest111782 Hi, I was wondering about your OT positions in North Carolina

guest481058 can you tell me about that

Barb We have OP openings near Norfolk, VA. Would that location be of interest to you?

    guest111782 no,
not really. I'm in the Raleigh/Chapel Hill area. I won't be graduating
until August so even if there are current openings I'm curious about
    placements you have generally

Barb In NC we have both Inpatient Acute and Skilled Nursing Settings for OTs.

guest111782 I'm interested in Skilled Nursing. Are any of them CCRCs?

    Barb I
don't think we have anything in R/CH right now. Things change, though
so you should stay in touch with us! Were you at that AOTA in Houston?

guest111782 I was not in Houston, but many of my classmates were

guest481058 i received a pamphlet and it has a lot of great benefits program

guest481058 would you please tell me about the benefit program like tuition loan repayment? How does that work?

    Barb The
Tuition Assistance Program will help pay your tuition costs while
you're in school. You will be assured of a position when you graduate.
    When do you graduate?

Barb So, who wants to know who got kicked off of Idol?

Cllotz Guest 481058, did you get your question answered, or did you have any others I could answer for you?

guest481058 i didnt get my question answered.

Anapaca If I recieved tuition assistance, how does the payback work?

Barb The Mentor program will match you with an experienced therapist to make sure you get off to a great start.

Barb The Tuition Assistance payback occurs by working for RehabCare for a pre-determined period of time.

    guest481058 thank you barb.

guest481058 i would like to know about outpatient rehab

Cllotz You would "pay it back" through a work committment with RehabCare

Cllotz Sorry..that was supposed to say pay it back through a work committment with RehabCare, dependent on the amount you were awarded.

Barb Do you want to know where the outpatient positions are located?

    guest481058 yes

Barb We have some great openings in VA. Near Norfolk. Is that area of interest to you?

    guest1088097 www.kolmani.co.cc <http://www.kolmani.co.cc>

guest481058 are there any openings in nyc or near nyc?

Barb Not in an Outpatient setting. Would you be interested in relocating?

Anapaca Earlier you mentioned the PAC benefit, does it cover CEU courses?

guest481058 yes i would be interested in relocation, but not southeast.

Cllotz YES, it covers your CEU courses!

Cllotz it also covers license renewal, association dues, etc..

Anapaca Is that something I'd have to pay back if I left?

Cllotz NO, it is just part of your benefits.

    Anapaca Oh, cool.

Barb NY Guest – send us your resume and we can match you up to appropriate openings.

Cllotz Anapaca, are you interested in any specific positions?

Barb Hi guest 31588. Are you new to Chatapalooza?

AG25 Yes I am new. I was just wondering what positions are currently available in NYC.

    Barb The
positions in NYC are going to be in either a Skilled Nursing Setting or
Pediatric School Setting. Are you familiar with VTA? That is our
    company based in NYC.

Anapaca Not really, just wanted to stay in the Chicago area. What settings are available?

    Cllotz In
Chicago, I believe the majority of our settings are going to be Skilled
Nursing and Inpatient. Barb, am I correct in saying that?

Barb Yes, some really nice opportunities in Skiled Nursing. Lots of good locations.

    AG25 I
am not familiar with VTA. Is it a placement company? If so, what would
be the advantages of working for VTA as opposed to working for a
    specific facility itself?

    guest481058 No, not familiar.

guest481058 Thank you so much for your devoted time to chat with me.

guest481058 I have one more question

Barb No, it's not a placement compnay. They contract with schools and nursing homes to provide therapy.

Barb Yes, please go ahead guest 481058.

    guest481058 is registered require?

guest481058 i plan to take my exam in aug.

Barb What do you mean? Are you licensed? What is your discipline?

    guest481058 ot

    guest481058 I am graduating in 2 weeks

Anapaca Great! Can I contact someone in person tomorrow?

Barb OK – yes. You will need to take your exam and be licensed to start working, however you can begin the interview process now.

Barb Anapaca, please contact me. ———— ask for Barb.

    guest481058 okay, thank you.

Anapaca Okay, thanks! This was really informative, I appreciate your time. Bye

    Cllotz Have a great night!

    AG25 Okay,
let me rephrase my question then. What is the advantage of contracting
through VTA as opposed to working for a facility itself? Or are the
employees of some facilities only contracted by companies such as VTA
    and not the facilitiy itself?

guest481058 you too, have a great night.

    Cllotz Welcome 92252!

    Barb The
rehab departments are managed by VTA….so all the employees will be
employed and managed by VTA. So it's more like an outsourced managed
    contract arrangement.

AG25 Thank you – that clears up my question!

AG25 Do you know of any specific openings at SNFs in NYC?

    Barb I'll
need to double check. I know most of the openings are upstate. Call
Jarica at ———— and she can fill you in on all the details.

    AG25 Thanks.
I am taking my boards in mid-late July so I will not be able to work
until August. When do you think the best time to call/apply is? Should
    I wait a few weeks?

Barb I think you should start now. Give Jarica a call tomorrow and she can get you started on an application, etc.

AG25 Thank you very much for your help! Goodbye.

Barb Thanks for joining the chat! Glad to have you!:)

Cllotz Hey Barb, you never told us who was kicked off IDOL?

Barb Do you really want me to tell you….or did you TiVo it?

    Cllotz I want to know!!!!

Barb ok -I'll chat to you directly – I don't want to spoil it for anyone.

Barb Welcome Guests! Are you new to Chatapalooza?

Barb Do you have any questions for us?
