Interviews…An Ongoing Process
As graduation approaches, we want you to land the job of your dreams. The best way to land that job is to be prepared. Being prepared not only entails creating a solid résumé, but it also includes being ready for interviews.
You may think your interview is the point when you meet face-to-face with a representative and speak specifically about a position. While that is an “interview”, it’s not the only time you are being “interviewed”! The interview is a process which begins with your first communication with a potential employer. Whether it be via email, phone or in person, always conduct yourself in a professional manner. When you are corresponding with a potential employer via email, stay away from slang or smiley face symbols and make sure you proof read the email before pressing send. When speaking to a potential employer on the phone, make sure you are somewhere quiet with no distractions, speak clearly and have some notes or questions handy. Remember, you are not emailing or talking with a fellow classmate, you are communicating with someone who could decide your future. The only way you are going to get that face-to-face interview is if you impress them in your initial communication.
You have worked so hard throughout your schooling to get to this point and now it is time to give it all you’ve got. Prepare yourself well, and you will be successful! Good luck, and if you would like additional tips on résumés and interviews, register to attend our Webinar on Tuesday, March 22nd! Click her for more information.
