Many of you will be graduating this summer and have inevitably started your job search.  When searching for a position you inevitably have to go through interview after interview, which can be nerve racking in itself.  Here is a great article from the ADVANCE for Occupational Therapy website that anyone getting ready for an interview should read. 

Don't Do This During Your Next Interview

Previously we posted a blog on how one should conduct themself during an interview, but apparently not everyone read that entry! I say this because CareerBuilder recently composed their annual list of The 10 Most Outrageous Interviews. They surveyed more than 3,000 hiring managers and HR professionals and you will be surprised by what some candidates asked for and did during their interviews.  The list is pure humor.

Previously on our blog we told you how great the job market outlook is for those of you nearing graduation and embarking on your job search.  Hopefully we have calmed some of your worries and you are starting to set up interviews and tour facilities with potential employers. Taking this into consideration, it seems like a good time to direct you towards an article written by Samuel Awoslu. 

Mizzou Speech Students Are Prepared

During all your academic courses and clinical rotations do you have time to think about interviewing for your first job?  Do you have any courses that prepare you for what to expect during an interview?  Don't worry!  The RehabCare Campus Relations Team is here to help.  Our "Interviewing Skills Presentation" is just what you need.  Recently Josh and I teamed up to host a Interviewing Skills Luncheon for the University of Missouri-Columbia Speech Students.  14 Students, a mix between May 2008 and 2009 graduates, were in attendance for the presentation.  It's never too early to start thinking about an interview.  Josh and I both received an overwhelming response and positive feedback from the students and faculty.  They enjoyed the presentation and feel more prepared for starting the interview process.  So what are some of the things we cover in the presentation?  We don't want to give all our secrets away but here are a few topics that we cover.

Interviewing Skills- Candidate and Employer

"Be prepared, do not wing the interview......."

"Resume preparation....."

"Professionalism......."

"Research the company ahead of time, prepare questions to ask the interviewer......."

"Career Plan vs Growth Opportunities....."
