Calling all December Grads

It is the beginning of November which means we are fast approaching the holiday season. Are you a thearpy student getting ready to graduate in December? If so now may be the time to start searching. I know you ask, "How am I suppose to fit that in between clinicals, schools, work and the holidays?" It may not be an easy task but dedicate a few minutes of your time each night to searching for jobs, re-visiting your resume, or contacting potential employers. Believe me, it will pay off in the end. There are a number of December graduates and you want to make sure that you are considered in the mix of candidates for that perfect job. Many employers hire up to 6 months prior to graduation! During these last few months of school and clinical experience, remember to jot down particular experiences to share during your interviews, e.g. the first patient you discharged to home and how you were part of this success, the young man who was able to play soccer again after enduring weeks of PT. Also, think of what makes you a good therapist and what sets you apart from the rest; this may be the key to your success. RehabCare Q & A With A New Graduate

Back in January, we posted an interview from a PT new graduate that took his first position out of school with RehabCare.  He completed one of his affiliations with us so he was already somewhat familiar with what RehabCare was all about.  Now I did a Q&A with a new graduate that we met at the APTA Student Conclave, took through the interview process and hired on after graduation.  I was curious to compare the point of view of a student who completed an affiliation and took a job with us and that of a student who came in without much previous knowledge of RehabCare and also took his first job out of school wth us.

Will Text Messaging Prove Successful For RehabCare?

Who doesn’t text?  In today age text messaging has become the new email.  With this in mind RehabCare recently rolled out our SMS, a.k.a. Cell Phone Text Messaging, initiative at the AOTA/NBCOT National Student Conclave in Pittsburgh, PA.  When students stopped by our booth we gave them the option of texting “AOTA” to 20964.  After students text the number given they just have to answer a few basic questions regarding their discipline, graduation date and interest.  By doing this they register themselves with RehabCare and are set up to get updates sent to their phones regarding our company and future job opportunities.  We are still waiting to see if this is going to be a productive marketing tool for us, but we are excited to see what happens.  A recent blog posted on collegerecruiter.com featured their use, and their network partner’s use, of SMS and the positive outcomes they have gotten.

No, what goes from zero to number two in a year is our targeted SMS (cell phone text messaging) campaign product because a year ago we did virtually zero dollars in sales with it and it will close 2007 as our number two product behind targeted email campaigns.”
